Football and ingenit – a great combination

Dortmund is a football city, and the Champions League (CL) final is drawing near: Ballsportverein Borussia (BVB) faces Real Madrid in the final. And ingenit is part of it too. 

Although the final takes place in London, it has a big impact on Dortmund. For everyone who can't or isn't allowed to travel to London, there are public viewing events – and possibly a celebratory motorcade if BVB wins the CL final. Besides the professional footballers, many other experts contribute their core skills to events like these. The German Red Cross, Dortmund district branch (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Kreisverband Dortmund e.V.) (DRK) and the Dortmund IT company ingenit are two of them.

At these events, the DRK provides medical and emergency services for the well-being and safety of visitors and participants. It administers first aid, provides the necessary medical care, organizes rescue routes to the nearest hospital, and advises in advance on technical and logistical support for such events. On site, everything has to be prepared and organized for emergencies, incidents must be documented, and medical equipment and staff deployment must be tracked at all times. Afterwards, invoices have to be issued and the inventory list updated.

For this purpose, ingenit – the expert for web-based software development in Dortmund for more than 27 years – worked with the DRK district branches in Dortmund and Düsseldorf to develop the medical services deployment planning system “Sanitätsdiensteinsatzplanungssystem” (SEPSys) and the redundant operations management and support system “Redundantes Einsatzmanagement- und Unterstützungssystem” (REMUS). SEPSys covers the entire process, from the initial request through quoting and staff planning to invoicing. Controlling features and integrations with third-party systems enable efficient workflows. REMUS is a web-based solution for operations management, from very small service providers up to large-scale incidents run by a command staff. The DRK district branch in Düsseldorf has used SEPSys for many years and has significantly reduced the effort required to prepare quotes. The DRK district branch in Dortmund has relied on REMUS as its standard operations management software for BVB matches at Signal Iduna Park since 2012 – and is now also using it to ensure fast first aid at the large-scale events surrounding the CL final in Dortmund.
