Onboarding in a special setting – ingenit pitches in Fröndenberg

We used the short window between the end of the summer school holidays and the time when team members without school-age children go on vacation for our annual company outing. And this year, too, we kept up a lovely tradition: all employees, along with their partners and children, are invited to the company outing.

Our destination: the Golfclub Unna-Fröndenberg. In an idyllic spot in the middle of nowhere, we met our coaching team. After a warm welcome, we got straight down to business – after all, we didn’t just want to watch.

Split into three groups, we set out to learn the most important golf techniques. First up on the driving range were the long shots. For the pros, this is about distances of several hundred meters and as few strokes as possible. For us, the challenge was a little more modest at first: using a 7 iron, we tried to hit the ball as far as possible and, above all, in the right direction. Sometimes it went better, sometimes less so – but that’s exactly why we were there.

Next came pitching and chipping. When pitching, the ball is played a little higher and farther toward the green; when chipping, it flies much lower and then rolls across the green. To finish, a delicate touch was required: with the putter, we tried to sink the ball as precisely as possible.

After two and a half hours of training and some helpful tips from the pros, we were ready for the next challenge: on the short course, we could put what we had just learned straight into practice in small groups. We played a few holes – with varying success, but with all the more mutual support and the odd good tip within the group.

And then there was the matter of hunger. Two and a half hours of golf make you surprisingly hungry. Good thing cold drinks and a delicious meal were waiting for us afterwards at the on-site restaurant “Claude´s”.

At the big table, there was also a special reason to raise a glass: we gave a warm welcome to our new colleague Jannes. He has been strengthening our development team since September – and got to know his new colleagues in a relaxed setting on his very first company outing.

If you now feel like taking a golf course or earning your short-course permit yourself, get in touch directly with Ralf Eisenmenger. We certainly felt very well looked after and coached. We are also happy to recommend “Claude´s” – the restaurant is suitable for groups as well as more intimate gatherings. The food was delicious. You can find more photos on our LinkedIn profile.
